Council Goals & Objectives

The Oldham County Vision Council was formed by newly elected Judge Executive Duane Murner to help "flesh out" a vision of what our county should be in four years.  Members of the council represent each area of the county, some were born and raised in the county, some have moved here from several other places around the United States.  Some members are retired, several own and operate their own businesses, while others work for small and major corporations.

The stated goal of the Vision Council is to . . . Describe the vision of what Oldham County should be in four years!

   
In order to assist the council in focusing on the major issues facing Oldham County, Judge Executive Murner has posed the following questions to the Vision Council:
What shall our approach be to the residential/commercial split in development?
What shall be our position in encouraging destination tourism?
What should we be doing regarding the public ownership of land?
What should our reserve policy be?
What should we be using our substantial bonding capacity for?
Which utilities should remain strictly Oldham County utilities?
What does Oldham County see as the future of its parks?
Is there really a vision for a unified Oldham County or is it always going to be a divided group of citizens?
How do we pay for our grand vision?

 
The Vision Council will be "charged" with addressing these questions together as a group and each council member will be asked to obtain input from at least 10-20 people as well.  We also hope to provide an "OPEN MIKE" here on this web site in the near future to allow additional input from many of our Oldham County citizens.
   
The objective is to share the "Vision" by late June or mid July with our elected officials.  We have been tasked to share this vision in a most concise fashion . . . in approximately six (6) pages of summary data and information!  Fiscal Court will then be free to act upon the Vision Councils' suggestions as they see fit.
